Social Distancing was a buck a very long time in the works. I had a reservation on his dam Social Issues since she was a young doe. Finally in 2020 our reservation was filled, then the buck suddenly passed shortly after arrival. I was devastated to say to least. We talked to Scott of Vineyard View and Redwood Hills about placing another reservation and things fell into place for the littermate of our original kid to move on from the Redwood Hills herd to ours.

Before Distance even made it here, he had an exciting young group of daughters on the west coast. As first fresheners his daughters are almost as a maximum score of 89 and one was the 2023 ADGA National Junior Champion. She also happened to be in the Colorama Sale at the same show! We've learned very quickly between talking to the Redwood Hills team and watching our first Distance daughters that they take time. These animals are huge, standing inches above doe kids in the bed the same age or older than them. So we're being patient and leaving our Distance daughters dry until they are two, but we are thrilled with what we're seeing in other herds.

His dam Social Issues is no stranger to the Saanen world. With her incredible general appearance shes a doe that's still beautifully dairy with plenty of strength and vigor. She was the 2019 ADGA National Champion and Best Udder winner, and has won best udder of breed more than once at the prestigious Sonoma County Fair including winning best udder in show in 2018.

Distance's sire is a neat new addition to our collection of Saanen genetics. Top Secret's sire is out of the 2018 ADGA National Champion and Best Udder winner SGCH Vineyard View Royal Hurricane 11*M EX92, who also happens to be a paternal sister to the 2017 ADGA National Champion and Best Udder winner SGCH des-Ruhigestelle Elenya 10*M EX93. Top Secret's dam SGCH Jen-Mae-Ka Kids Secrets EX92 was the 2022 Reserve National Champion at 8 years old.

We are honored and excited to have Distance as an addition to our herd and look forward to using him for years to come. We plan to use him heavily in our herd again for 2024 kids, and look forward to seeing a number of his daughters freshen in our herd beginning in 2025.
