About Our Rabbits
We never knew how much our lives would change when we bought a guinea pig at the Bethlehem Fair in 2006. Soon after I joined the Litchfield Hill's Rabbit & Cavy 4-H Club and the rest is history. Over the years our rabbitry had raised top quality English Lops, Belgian Hares and Velveteen Lops who have been competitive all over the country. In 2018 we decided to take the rabbitry in a new direction and work with Britannia Petites and Himalayns.
Our goal is to breed rabbits that are healthy, compete on a local, state and national level while out producing themselves in their offspring. We expect our animals to have the ability to keep up with our show schedule while maintaining condition and staying stress free. While type is important we want our animals to excel in every part of the scorecard.
We compete with our show team all over New England and the East Coast regularly throughout the year. We attend the PaSRBA Convention, OSRBA Convention and the ARBA National Convention as our schedules allow. We also try to attend a few local double or triple shows each year, but attend as many as twenty or more in previous years. In recent years due to my judging schedule we have not exhibited at as many shows but still attend the ARBA National Convention and some of our favorite local shows when possible.
We breed our animals throughout the entire year as our animals are housed in an indoor facility. No animals are sold under 10 weeks of age and most show quality animals are grown out until they are at least 12 weeks of age so we can evaluate the show quality as they mature. The health of our herd is our number one priory, all new animals are kept separate from the herd for a minimum of six to eight weeks to ensure they are free from any symptoms of pasturella or other illnesses. We also quarantine our show team after the ARBA Convention and other large shows such as PaSRBA where the chances of exposure are much higher.
We have animals for sale periodically throughout the year ranging from a few months to a few years old. Due to the high quantity of inquires we receive we do not keep a waiting list. All available animals are listed on our website and Facebook page as they become available. Only animals we feel worthy of being used in our own breeding program are offered as show or brood quality, we feel this is an important part of improving a breed. We do not sell many pet quality animals but am willing to consider selling pet stock to seriously interested buyers that we feel can provide a good home.
Thank you for your interest in our herd and feel free to contact us with any questions!
