This reservation has been in the works a few years since I saw a picture of his dam as a kid. Needing to add more length and dairy strength to match the strength we currently have in our Nubian herd, I decided to take a chance on a kid and place a reservation on her. As a yearling first freshener she had buck/doe twins that were both retained at LakeShore, so we patiently waited until this year. It worked out that she was bred to +*B SG Wingwood Farm TL Atlas who is also the sire of our American herd sire *B SGCH Redwood Hills Atlas Drakon EX90. I’ve been wanting to cross him into our purebred line for some time now, but being limited on purebred does from them I keep pushing it back... so now we can see a similar breeding with another Atlas son bring in the herd!

Midsummer’s dam SG LakeShore Show Me Summer 5*M VG87 (Y/FF) has quite the neat pedigree on paper. Her dam line is pretty interesting with her great-granddam being SGCH Desert-Willow KE-CK Kailia 2*M EX93 (2009 Reserve Best Udder). Her granddam, SGCH Alize Kailia’s Kovergirl 3*M EX90 has produced some very notable animals in her time including +*B SGCH J&R Spirit’s HT-K Kaitai EX91 (produced our doe SGCH LakeShore Katerina 8*M who was the 2016 1P/U Milking Yearling) and a very promising young doe in the LakeShore herd SGCH LakeShore DL Material Girl 4*M. Summer’s dam SGCH LakeShore Dandy Showgirl 4*M is a pretty impressive doe herself with an appraisal score of EX91 and consistently producing 2600-2700# records. Summer’s sire is a pretty special buck that popped up in the last few years. His dam SGCH LakeShore-Farms Summer Storm 5*M EX92 was the 2004 National Junior Champion, and won the two year old class in 2005. She also had a first freshener score of VEEE 89 (max.) He’s also a paternal brother to the 2012 National Champion and Best Udder, GCH Wingwood Farm TAC Sasha 6*M EX91. Many consistent udders and dairy strength across this entire pedigree to match with out herd, and some genetics I’ve been hoping to add to our line for a while.

Midsummer’s sire +*B Wingwood Farm TL Atlas is no new name to our herd. We have been using his son, and his littermate’s grandson in our herd over the past few years with great success. When Summer’s breeding plans suddenly got changed to him I was quite excited! His dam SGCH Wingwood Farm Tim’s Althea 1*M was the 2015 National Show High Butterfat winner and has done well at many California shows. She comes from a consistent line of Wingwood “A” line does excelling in all four categories of the scorecard, but really catch your eye with their length of bone patter, dairy strength and correct shaped and well attached mammary systems. Atlas’s paternal line has a interesting cross of productivity and type which has become evident in Atlas’s littermate sister SG Wingwood Farm Aviva 2*M who already has a Top Ten record being 3rd in milk, 6th in Butterfat and 8th in protein. Atlas’s daughters are already proving to be extremely correct and productive does with one already finishing her permanent championship and a few with their superior genetics.

Midsummer himself is a very long bodied kid, tracks correctly and has the dairy strength we’re looking for. He has improved dairy strength, front legs and breed character on his first daughters, and we're excited to see his first fresheners in 2021. Thanks again to the Carter Family at LakeShore Nubians for sending him to us!
