Midsmr was originally going to be a different cross into the herd, and a last minute breeding plan change lead us to a hopeful line breeding on our successful herd sire +*B SGCH Redwood Hills Atlas Drakon EX90 and his sire +*B SG Wingwood Farm TL Atlas. Atlas has become a very successful sire for the Redwood Hills herd and a handful of others already. His daughters have been placing well at national shows, a number of them have earned their superior genetics and/or permanent championships and they are scoring very well. So while it wasn't the plan, we are hopeful this line breeding will help us as we add in some true out-crosses through future herd sires and artificial insemination.
Midsmr's dam was what really caught my eye, and I did what I never thought I would do and placed a buck reservation on a kid. Luckily, she freshened well and have maintained the type very similar to her paternal granddam and 2004 national junior champion, SGCH LakeShore Summer Storm 5*M EX92. her length of bone pattern, levelness of topline and correct set to her feet and legs really caught my eye.
While our Midsmr daughters are still young, they are already proving to be similar in general appearance to their granddam, and are an improvement in length of bone pattern. As we start to see the first fresh daughters we are impressed with the area of attachment, height of rear udder and strength of medial.
