While Galaxy was not a buck I had intended to keep, I could not let this kid go. He was born minutes before I had someone arriving to look at buck kids, and I immediately said when he stood up in the tote he has the width of rump, thurl placement and set to the rear legs I couldn't find in a consistent line to bring in as a herd sire. When the family arrived, they happen to see him and said give me a price and I still couldn't sell him. A few years later, that has turned into an extremely good decision as his daughters have the angularity and openness, length of bone pattern and width of rump I was struggling to find in another herd sire while maintaining the general appearance I've worked to keep consistent in my herd.
His sire *B Begley's-Troubled-Acre Skywlkr was a buck we lost too soon, but with only three daughters being kept in our herd the two that were scored appraised excellent and are so consistent in type even with two very different dams. He crossed so well with out herd sire +*B SGCH Redwood Hills Atlas Drakon EX90 which was important as he quickly became a major part of our American herd. His dam and full sister both has success at a few national shows placing very well, and have both been on the top ten list. They really excel in the structure of their rumps, uphill stature, strength of feet and legs while still being angular with correct shape to the udder.
Galaxy's dam SGCH Hops N Lops Dahlya 3*M EX90 was a doe I didn't show too much due to my own schedule, but is very correct in her own right. Her dam GCH Hops N Lops Wysteria 2*M EX91 excels in every part of the scorecard and even now getting close to ten years old is more correct in general appearance and has attachments that held up better than many does out there. This line has been so consistent with the younger generation following suit, it was a no-brainer to keep another buck from it. *B Hops N Lops Wolfsbane was a Skywlkr/Wysteria son that did a lot of good for us while he was in our herd, so we are excited to see how adding Drakon into this cross will continue to add consistency.
Galaxy's first daughter will freshen in 2023, and with some stunning kids in my pen I think we'll be seeing a lot of his daughters in the future. They excel in general appearance, length of bone pattern, and dairy strength. His first daughter in our herd Viper was 15th place in a competitive senior year class at the 2022 national show as a very immature yearling.
